Pomelo – one of the juiciest fruits on our planet tasting sweet and sour. The properties and qualities of the pomelo were legendary even in very early dynasties. Specially trained cooks would slim the fruit of its peels and serve the emperor and its entourage as a specialty dessert. Pomelo is from the citrus family as grapefruit and orange.
Pomelo fruit contains beneficial protein and fiber which can help you feel full for longer. Pomelo also has a fat burning enzyme that decreases the presence of sugar and starch in your body and therefore may promote weight loss.
How much is recommended daily?
Eat one fruit every other day with a cup of water. Best before bedtime.
Benefits may be consumed in a drink by soaking fermented fruit in a cup of warm water for one hour. Remove fruit and drink liquid.
From tree to package
The pomelo, pummelo, or in scientific terms Citrus maxima or Citrus grandis, is a refreshing citrus fruit growing in warmer climates, from the family Rutaceae and the principal ancestor of the grapefruit. The outer skin and the white membrane of the pomelo are removed and crushed. It is then fermented in its own juice with a mother ferment for a minimum of 6 months. Little confects form after fermentation and they are then packaged in a protective atmosphere, ready to be savored.
Allergies and Interactions: People who take certain cholesterol-lowering medications (such as Lipitor) and avoid grapefruit should use caution with the pomelo because it may interfere with the effectiveness of the drug.
